Butlins Minehead Resort

A brief history

The Butlin's resort in Minehead opened its doors in May 1962 and has grown to be the largest of the three remaining sites. It has a capacity of around 7500 and covers 165 acres!

In the early 1980's the site underwent major redevelopment and following solving the flooding issues by creating a moat / trench around the perimeter of the site the caravan park was first introduced to the resort. The site was relaunched and renamed "Somerwest World".

Further changes were undertaken in 1998/99 by building the Skyline Pavilion that we have all come to know and love and the final rebranding was done as they became what they are currently known as "Butlin's Minehead Resort"
